AAH and Rx Systems deliver joint venture

Today, AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Rx Systems Ltd announced an exciting new venture to deliver a single PMR system which, for existing LINK users, will be called ProScript LINK.

AAH has written to all existing LINK users to explain why the combination of the two companies' strengths and expertise to deliver new pharmacy PMR functionality will have additional benefits from the current situation.

They will also explain how and when any migration may be required from their existing LINK system to ProScript LINK. In the meantime, LINK will continue to be fully supported in the normal way with regular updates, service desk support and support from LINK Account Managers. AAH anticipates that most LINK users will have migrated to the new system by the end of 2011.

Commenting on the announcement Mark James, group managing director of AAH Pharmaceuticals, said: "I think this is great news for our customers. The demands on PMR system providers have increased substantially over recent years as national IT programmes in each UK country demand their own functionality.

"Combining our strengths and expertise with those of Rx Systems will enable us to offer customers greater functionality, more quickly than would be the case had we decided to pursue separate development paths.

"Our aim is to provide our customers with systems that help them run their businesses effectively. This partnership will ensure we are better placed to meet their current needs in addition to future requirements arising out of the national programmes for IT.

"For example, in England, ProScript LINK will deliver enhanced functionality to pharmacy, such as a Responsible Pharmacists module, substance misuse module, access to text messaging and increased nursing home flexibility for those who focus on that market.

"In Scotland, we will aim to deploy eCMS through ProScript LINK by the end of March 2010."

Commenting on the announcement, Ian Taylor, of Rx Systems said: "This is excellent news for our respective customers as we strive to deliver added value to pharmacy.  A combination of customer estates gives us economies of scale of supply and service delivery.  This allows us to achieve the very high standard of support demanded in delivering each of the national IT agendas."
