Customers in and around London are benefitting from a £3m investment in the latest automation equipment at AAH’s Ruislip branch.
The branch has had its entire automated system replaced and a new 17,000 sq/ft mezzanine floor has been built in order to increase the capacity of the branch by more than 50 per cent. Customers will now see a more efficient automation process which has improved order accuracy the company claims
Steve Anderson, operations director for the company said: “AAH has an extensive, on-going programme of investment to ensure we offer our customers the best service possible and stay ahead of our competitors. This huge investment in Ruislip is a sign of our commitment to our customers.
“At Ruislip we process more than 8,500 orders per day so it was crucial that we built a future proof system that housed the latest and best technology available. We have installed two new A-Frame units that have yielded a 12 per cent increase in automation, the latest software to manage order picking and a new lidding and labelling system.
“Pharmacists are very busy. They have prescriptions to dispense and screening services to administer in addition to running a business. By investing in the latest and best in class equipment available we can reduce their workload, increase customer satisfaction and make the ordering system even more streamlined.”
In addition, the branch now boasts a new state of the art picking tunnel and has deployed a tote cleaning system that automatically removes all debris from totes before their next use.
AAH makes more than 100,000 deliveries a week from 20 locations across the UK, despatches more than 15 million items per week and with more than 20,000 products stocked is the largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in the UK.
